When you feel your heart beating hard or your blood running fast, you have found something that is important to you. Create room for it.
Navigating careers today is no longer the linear-progressive path. The reality is that our lives are in constant change and there is no straight journey towards success. It is in those moments of transition, that we need to learn how to navigate in space with no maps and saddled with unpredictable obstacles, in order to propel oneself across the open waters.
I completed a PhD in Physics, published in peer-review scientific journals and worked as a nuclear engineer. 2016 in my mid-career I lost my workplace in one of the biggest German companies, due to downsizing which was a consequence of phasing-out nuclear power, an aftermath of the nuclear disaster in Fukushima.
The first great thing is to find yourself and for that you need solitude and contemplation - at least sometimes. I can tell you deliverance will not come from the rushing noisy centers of civilization. It will come from the lonely places.
I love being in a setting that shifts my perspective on the world. From working in an open-plan office with about 70 colleagues on one floor together, I moved to a remote settlement in East Greenland with about 70 inhabitants, to work there as a teacher. It was also an expedition into my own interior. What began as a passion for travelling to cold places, evolved into journaling, documenting, blogging, teaching/presentations and eventually guiding others to adventure.
This homepage showcases the type of work that I currently do and which is important to me, with a spotlight focused on authenticity. If my homepage can arouse your curiosity for Greenland, spark an idea, or give a small push to somebody who is chasing a dream, or wants to start doing something they’ve always wanted to do, then that would be great.
