What is PechaKucha?
PechaKucha (in Japanese ぺちゃくちゃ meaning chit-chat) is a storytelling format, where 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each. A cure for death by PowerPoint, sure enough. At PechaKucha Night, individuals gather at a venue to share their personal presentations on various subjects.
The idea was inspired by the desire to “talk less, show more,” and was born in Tokyo in 2003 to enable young designers to meet, show their work, and exchange ideas in 6 minutes 40 seconds.
As of 2019, PechaKuchaNights had been held in more than 1,142 cities worldwide and more than 3 million people have attended it.
